Saskia Sloots van Zwol, alias Sarah Creek

From elderly care to the studio

Saskia grew up in a family that was passionate about art and culture. After working as an activity coordinator in elderly care, she devoted herself fully to her passion as an artist eight years ago. She never lost that background in care: in the project Storytelling painting she painted portraits of people living with dementia, with their families' permission, and gave workshops in people's homes and in care homes.

Thin layers, great depth

Her style is characterised by realistic acrylic paintings, in which she creates a beautiful depth with thin layers. Her sources of inspiration are diverse, from people and nature to social themes and her own feelings and philosophy of life. Behind every painting is a story that arises from the urge to make something she has never made before. During the painting process she deliberately leaves room for spontaneous ideas.

Teacher to 60 students

Sarah also teaches 60 talented students with great enthusiasm in her studio at the Vliegenpad in Meppel. Small groups, lots of personal attention and always coffee with biscuits. Her students rate her 5.0 on Google.

Stars on canvas and Kunst in de Etalage

In 2024 Saskia took part in Stars on canvas by Omroep Max, painting a portrait of TV presenter Martine van Os. The painting became the audience favourite. Earlier she won the audience award and the jury award at Kunst in de Etalage in Meppel and a third prize at the Zwolse Vermeer with the still life Pasta from Holland.
