Three days of filming, a portrait of TV presenter Martine van Os and a broadcast on Dutch national television. A special and inspiring experience.
On Saturday 21 December 2024, viewers of NPO 2 could watch Sarah take on the challenge of painting a portrait of Martine van Os. The adventure started in summer, with three days of filming. In Hilversum she met Martine and could already make sketches during the interview. Presenter Özcan Akyol and the film crew then visited the studio in Meppel. The unveiling was filmed in museum JAN in Amstelveen.
Martine said from the start that she would like an abstract version of herself best. Sarah did not go for that: she is a realistic painter of stories. By painting narratively and staying close to herself, she could put her own stamp on the painting. Chosen or not, it was a very special and inspiring experience.

A poll by Omroep Max even showed that Sarah's painting was the viewers' favourite. The portrait, Dromen van toen en later (Dreams of then and later), has since been auctioned and raised 950 euros for the charity Edukans. Sarah looks back with great pleasure and thanks everyone for the warm reactions and support.
