Collected Light

The story behind this work

Still life with glass on a side table. Glass reveals more than the hard material it is made of. It is transparent and looks fragile, yet at the same time it is strong. In its reflection you see the surroundings, but also yourself. These old bottles and little jugs, bought at the charity shop, tell a story of their use and reveal more than you would expect. I added the wren because I heard it singing during a walk that afternoon. The table is invented too, with the emphasis on the metal fittings, which I found a lovely challenge to paint.
